If you’re an American, chances are you’re gearing up for some Independence Day festivities today. Amidst all of the fireworks, parades, BBQ’s, house parties, beach parties, patriotic concerts, and state fairs (or crawfish boils if you’re in Louisiana) in your near future, don’t forget to take some quality time to really consider your relationship with America. If you’re in need of some inspiration, I’d like to direct you to my latest article on the Oxford American website. It is an overview of “Young Americans,” a body of work which is an exploration of American identity among members of Generation Y by artist and photographer, Sheila Pree Bright.  You can check it out by following the link to my Southern contemporary art column “The Only Stair That Doesn’t Creak” here.
